I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and speaking with Leisa Peterson, the brains behind Wealth Clinic. It was mind blowing! If you want to understand what money means to you, what your relationship with money is and of course how to acquire wealth you absolutely need to look into this.

Not sure I can bring myself to do this but I just read that putting a water bottle filled with sand in the back of a toilet tank can displace enough water to save 10 gallons a day, which translates into a savings of almost $100 per year. One thing I really do, however, is NOT flush after every time I pee. Hey, I pee a LOT....and it really is a senseless waster of water. Is that gross, too?

Wanted to post these because I needed something to make me smile about my non-stop lack of crazy funds:
What do you think of Anna's blog? It's top-rated, for what that's worth, and I think worth a browse.
In another post, I've suggested hoarding perfume samples from magazine pages and using them for special occasions. Nice way to jazz up your scent without dropping any precious duckets. However, saw a friend hoard them for another reason: to line the bottom of small house garbage pails with them. Especially the bathroom. Pretty clever, hey?
Actually found this article to be pretty practical and helpful.
Found this on Pinterest. It's a post from Ladies Home Journal a few years back but I found it helpful. What do you think:
How do you save money?
Start reading the Motley Fool website. A good way to get accustomed withe financial issues without being bored or confused.
I think this falls more under the "Sensibility" category rather than the "Cents" category but I just read that a good place to get a great idea for a gift is to check someone's Pinterest page. Good idea, huh?
Is this a good idea or just plain ghetto? Ya know in magazines how they have those perfume ads with the fold back samples? How about ripping them out and saving them to apply once in a while. That way, you don't have to splurge on perfume AND you will have a wonderful array of nifty scents.
So, in leafing through one of my scrapbook/journals, I found a list of all the things I was planning on doing to save money:
If you are a Dunkin' Donuts person, use a DD Card and renew it online. You will receive discounts, coupons and if you are not using cash it will save you from putting money in those tip jars that we are all resentful of anyway.
Call your utility and credit card companies and ask if they can offer you a discount or money off your next bill. I have tried this with Time Warner, Comcast, Verizon, etc. and it has worked every time!
Stop putting those bottles and cans in the recycling trash. Return them for the deposit money which you will put in a crafty jar/piggy bank to count at the end of the year. Honestly, you will be surprised how much it adds up.
Really do all the basics like researching your insurance companies, bundling utilities, bank accounts, etc.
Purchase greeting cards in bulk and in advance.
When you make a budget, be sure to stick to it and HONESTLY track what you are spending and where. Overestimate and don't forget to plug into the budget easily forgotten things like haircuts, holiday presents, etc.
When shopping, stay true to your list and never go to a grocery store when you are starving!
Employ the 30 day rule: if you want to make a big purchase, wait 30 days and if you still want it...go for it!
Okay, we all look at a closet that is spilling over with clothes and proclaim "I have nothing to wear!" Listen, you are never going to love everything in your closet but if it basically fits then it should be put into the mix of your work clothing. Stop buying so much retail and hunt for second hand shops or places that will even accept consignment sales. We all throw away entirely too much income on more clothes we don't need.
Turn your lights off, cook in bulk. install LED light bulbs, clean your car's air filter, cut down on paper products instead using linen napkins and rags instead of paper towels, do not keep your credit card in your wallet to resist spontaneous buying, go generic and make sure your tires are filled with air because if low you lose gas mileage.
Sick of paying shipping on on-line orders? Don't anymore. Visit FreeShipping.org!
Supposedly, Pep Boys offers a bunch of free services for your car including some important stuff like brake inspection and tire rotation. You don't even have to buy anything! Can this be true?
Want to travel? Turns out if you figure a way that the purpose of the travel could be considered for professional or research purposes, you may be able to get a travel grant. It's not like it would cover the cost of a whole trip but anything that will help offset some expenses works for me!
Task Rabbit is a site that hooks you up with people willing to pay you to do their chores. Does this seem like a good way to make extra cash or the beginning of a script for a horror movie?
Hold it! Wait! Hold on a second!
